| SHOW RULES |
| Entries are due by July 1, 2008. Any horse entered after the post entry date will have a $2 per class post entry fee. Any horse entered on or before or postmarked 7/1/08 will pay no post entry fees for any classes entered at the show. Post entry fees for the horse will be strictly determined by the postmark. Payment must accompany the entry form before the entry is considered received. There will be a $35 charge for a returned check, regardless of the reason for the return. Class fees paid for a horse that is not pre-entered will have a post entry fee, even if your own horse was pre-entered. Entries at the show will be accepted up to two classes prior to the class to be entered. Show tabs are available if a signed open check is left at the office prior to class entry.
All MSHSA classes will be conducted and judged according to the current MSHSA rules and USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) (go to www.mshsa.org for rules). The show will not be responsible for any accidents to persons, horses, equipment or loss of equipment. Presentation of entry blank shall be deemed acceptance of this rule. No refunds will be made on withdrawals from classes unless a veterinary certificate is submitted for horse or a doctor's certificate for the exhibitor to the show office prior to the class or within 5 days after the show. Only classes missed at the show due to farrier problems at the show will be refunded. There will be no switching of classes for horses or riders. No substitution of horses or riders in a class. Any switching or substitution is considered a scratch. Stall fees, high point award fees and office charges are non-refundable. ONLY ONE HORSE MAY BE LISTED PER ENTRY FORM. The show charge applies to each horse. Two riders may be listed on the form. You are responsible for correctly completing the entry and any later entries so the results can be correctly counted. Classes entered at the show must be listed on a supplemental form, available at the office. Please pay fees before the last class or ½ hour after the last class as the high point awards will be figured directly after the last class. A parent or guardian must sign the entry form for any rider under 18. All entry forms must be signed. If you have a disability that requires accommodation, please visit the show office. We will provide accommodation as best we can. No profanity will be tolerated. Show management reserves the right to expel an exhibitor. Poor sportsmanship is not acceptable. There will be no cruelty or abuse of a horse by any person. Excessive use of a whip anywhere on the show grounds will subject the person to penalties. All dogs must be confined on a leash on the grounds. Youth may not show a stallion in youth classes but may in open classes. The age of an individual on 12/1/07 will determine the age for the current show season. A person born on 12/1 shall assume the greater age on 12/1. Horses are considered one year old on January 1st following the actual date of foaling. The horse maintains that age for the entire competition year regardless of the actual birth date. Junior horses are 5 years and under. Senior horses are 6 years old and older. MSHSA considers Western Control a class for horses who are beginning reining maneuvers. Senior horses, junior horses, or green horses who have been ridden in shanked bits previously, may be ridden 2-handed in a non-shanked snaffle bit or hackamore. Western Horsemanship exhibitors will perform a horsemanship pattern. A rider will be allowed to ride only one horse. A horse may be ridden by only one rider. If a shanked bit is used, the horse must be ridden one handed. A senior horse who is not green, must be ridden with a shanked bit. A green or junior horse may be ridden two handed in a snaffle bit or bosal. A green horse is one who has never shown at any MSHSA, USEF, or Breed association approved show prior to the current competition year. First places at any MSHSA, USEF, or Breed association approved show prior to the current competition year determines the status of horse or rider. A maiden horse/rider is one that has not won a first place. A novice horse/rider is one that has not won 3 first places. A limit horse/rider is one that has not won 6 first places. The warm-up arena is located north of the show arena. All facilities are outside. Warm-up in the arena will be available unless the arena is being worked. A class with fewer than 3 entries, except MSHSA classes, may be combined with another class or canceled and the exhibitors notified. Large classes will be divided with the top 5 finishers in each section brought back for final placing. Please keep gate holds (3 minutes allowed) to a minimum. There are separate entry and exit gates. Please check in with the gate manager before your class. Please allow horses to exit the arena prior to your entry. In the event of inclement weather, the show may be delayed until the weather clears. Management will decide if classes must be canceled and make an announcement accordingly. Refunds will be made on canceled classes only if management decides to cancel classes. Stall/tack rooms are $35 each night or $55 for Friday and Saturday. There are only 50 stalls. If all stalls are rented, please make your own arrangements for stalling. Arrangements can be made if you stay an extra night. Please check with the show office. Bedding provided is shavings. Straw is not allowed. Stalls are assigned and may not be reserved by phone. Any horse found in a stall not assigned to that horse will forfeit entry fees, any monies or prizes won and will be eliminated from further competition. Stalls are 12'x12', solid wall, metal stalls with barred windows. There is no place to attach stall guards. No holes, hooks, nails or screws may be put on the stalls. Anyone doing so will be assessed a damage fee to be paid to the Equestrian Park. Port-a-stalls will not be allowed anywhere. Cars and trailers must park in the designated areas. Camper electrical hookup is $20 per night. No campers or LQ horse trailers may hook up to the barn outlets for any reason. If a camper is hooked to a barn outlet and blows the circuit, there will be a $50 fee charged by the Park. This charge will be passed on to the party blowing the circuit. There is no charge for use of the barn outlets for grooming clippers and other low amperage electrical devices. The Western Equitation Medals Class and English Equitation Medals Class will be judged the same as MSHSA classes for Western, Saddle and Hunt Seat Equitation. The English Equitation Medals Class may be ridden Hunt Seat or Saddle Seat. These classes are open to all riders. Exhibitors may qualify for the finals to be held at the Great Falls All Breed Show. Championship Awards will be given to 6th place at the finals. Exhibitors to be judged on the rail and the top 6 riders will perform an equitation test before placement. |
